Marble vs Granite: Which to Source and from Where

India produces both marble and granite in enormous quantities, and both are major export products. But they serve different applications, come from different regions, and have different quality considerations. Here's what importers need to know.

Rajasthan is India's marble heartland. Makrana produces the famous white marble used in the Taj Mahal. Kishangarh is India's marble processing hub with hundreds of factories. Udaipur and Ahmedabad also produce distinctive marble varieties. Popular export types include Makrana White, Banswara White, Pink Marble, Green Marble, and various fantasy and onyx marbles.

It depends entirely on your market and application. If your customers want luxury bathroom tiles and decorative surfaces, marble is ideal. If they want commercial flooring and kitchen countertops, granite is better. Many successful importers source both.
